Asus O!Play HD2

This USB 3.0-enabled networked media player throws in the kitchen sink.

Good value ; Extensive card reader input ; Audio connectivity

Uninspiring design ; Unintuitive to install hard drive

If you can live with its bulk, less than stellar looks and rather plain menus, Asus' latest O!Play HD2 media player is one of the most versatile around, stuffed with connectivity and features. It performs well, plays everything without a glitch and –...

Asus O!Play HD2 review

Despite the all-powerful Apple TV being in the same price bracket, Asus's O!Play HD2 streamer is a perfectly good device with options for a hard drive

Cheap ; crisp pictures and punchy audio ; provision to add a hard disk

Apple has more on-demand content

The O!Play HD2 is a flexible streamer that gets even better if you add a hard disk

Asus O!Play HD2 HD Media Player

Why would you watch your favorite videos on your computer monitor when you can get a full 5.1 surround sound HDTV experience in your living room? This is partly why ...

Internal 3.5-inch SATA hard drive dock ; Browser-based BT engine management ; Plenty of input and output options ; Robust file format and codec support

No multitasking with network-based functions ; No device-initiated BT downloads ; No YouTube, Netflix, or Hulu ; No integrated Wi-Fi connectivity

The main playback buttons are found toward the top, a five-way navigator in the center, and some quick access buttons near the bottom. These quick access buttons are labelled much more clearly than the old version, giving you one-press access to...

Asus O!Play HD2

A bit expensive but supports a number of features

Supports every possible format, 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD, can fit a 3.5" hard drive, very good build quality, remote is easy to use and ergonomic, supports USB 3.0 link for PC transfer

A bit expensive, NAS features are a bit limited and don't work well all the time, no YouTube widget, no automatic update for firmware (have to do it manually through pen drive)
