i have been testing this lens almost a week and compared the minolta 300mm HS APO. The quality of the sony is very uniform and consistence ,even when the aperture is at wide open f2.8,so this is why you have to pay more that is why this lens is not...

Worth every penny.

 

I took a long time to justify the cost of this lens to myself but after reading all the reviews I decided to take the plunge. I don't have a single regret. The quality of the images is head and shoulders above the other lenses I have (high end Sigma)....
