iRobot's mopping bot leaves us underwhelmed

 

The Braava 380t handles basic floor cleaning, but not much else -- and not without your help.

Braava's claims that its bot runs "whisper-quiet" are totally accurate. For removing dust and light dirt, and other basic cleaning jobs, the Braava 380t performed capably well.

You can't schedule automatic cleaning runs with the Braava 380t, and it won't automatically return to its charging dock when finished. Also, it was almost totally unable to clean grout.

For $300 (or £260) the Braava might be tempting, but consider holding out for something smarter, more powerful, and with more features.

The iRobot Braava 380t is a great accessory for lazy neat freaks, but you'll still need to lend a helping hand on occasion.

Sweeps and mops. Accurate coverage. Virtually silent.

No specialized cleaning solution. Not effective on tough stains. Occasionally takes a while to connect to Navigation Cube.
