Google Pixel Tablet review: the worst Pixel I’ve ever used

The Google Pixel Tablet is Google's first tablet since 2018. It has a unique design and costs $500 — but is it actually worth your money? Here's our review.

Comfortable to hold Fingerprint sensor Speaker dock sounds great

Poorly designed charging dock Basic, 60Hz display Terrible speaker placement Poor battery life Extremely buggy software Limited first-party accessories

“The Google Pixel Tablet is a novel idea that misses the mark. With poor hardware choices, limiting specs, and a fairly high price, it's a rough entry in the Pixel family.”

Google Pixel Tablet Review

The Google Pixel Tablet is a perfectly serviceable slab with one standout feature that turns it into a communal hub device – but the price is an issue.

Sharp screen ; Dock is a handy charging accessory and a unique feature ; Far more affordable in the US ; Pixel UI works well on a tablet

Dull design ; The speaker dock doesn’t sound great ; Screen only 60Hz ; Price is far too high in the UK ; Doesn’t have all the Nest Hub software features

The Google Pixel Tablet is a perfectly serviceable slab with one standout feature that turns it into a communal hub device. There’s plenty to like here, but odd pricing and some strange decisions stop it from being truly great.

Google Pixel Tablet review

Is it a tablet? Is it a smart display? Most importantly, is it any good?

Sharp and natural picture ; Impressive built-in speakers ; Dock included in the box

Poor dark detail ; Colours could be bolder ; Performance with headphones is underwhelming

The Pixel Tablet is an Android tablet with a trick up its sleeve, making it a worthwhile alternative to the class leaders

Google Pixel Tablet review: half tablet, half home hub

Google's Pixel Tablet doesn't just want to be a tablet, it wants to be your home hub too

Chromecast built-in for easy content sharing ; Decent battery life when off the dock ; Dock included for home hub-like use

Dock inclusion makes it more home hub than straight-up tablet ; Android OS on tablets still not the best ; Screen only has 60Hz refresh rate

The Pixel Tablet is a really interesting reimagining of what Google sees a tablet as being. But as the wannabe hub of your home, while still offering great battery life when used handheld for content consumption, it's hard to see who this new slate is...

Google Pixel Tablet Review

Solid Android tablet ; Flawless audio hand-off ; Good sound from Speaker Dock

Expensive ; Speaker Dock has limited functionality ; Hub Mode could do more

The Google Pixel Tablet bridges the gap between tablet and smart display surprisingly well, but it costs more than the entry-level iPad.

Review: Google Pixel Tablet

Google's new Android slate works great as an entertainment hub and rests on a dock that can pull double duty.

An Android tablet that works well as a smart display (thanks to the included dock) and as a mobile computer. Good performance. Sharp LCD screen. Robust speakers, docked and undocked. Android on tablets is a lot better now. Excellent multi-user support.

Can't adjust the tablet's angle on the dock. Long-term battery life is concerning. No first-party stylus or keyboard. No built-in kickstand. No OLED or 120-Hz screen. No headphone jack. Can't cast to Netflix.

Google Pixel Tablet review: the dock makes all the difference

Google's hardware history is littered with failed attempts at tablets. Many of those past efforts, such as the Pixel C or Pixel Slate , were trying to find new and novel uses for a tablet, most with a focus on productivity. Attachable keyboards,...

Nice screen ; Good audio ; Responsive performance ; Speaker dock is both clever and useful

A lot of Android apps still struggle with big screens ; No headphone jack ; Below average battery life ; Aspect ratio works better for watching video than reading

But it’s also a safe device. The Pixel Tablet is not pushing the boundaries of what a versatile touchscreen slate could be used for, or even trying to compete with something like the iPad Pro. The door is wide open for Google to come out with a “Pixel...

Google Pixel Tablet review: A new home for the same old Android

A great idea in need of a few software updates

Great value for a tablet and speaker dock combo ; Home screen controls are useful and improving ; Excellent sound for immersive audio

Android still seems a phone OS shoehorned into a tablet ; Soft-touch back picks up dirt and fingerprints ; Smaller than the ‘11-inch’ marketing makes it seem

The Google Pixel Tablet delivers great value for a home tablet that doubles as a smart display, but it could have been so much more (and it could still be). It’s not the most premium slate for the price, and it’s smaller than you’d expect, but it...

Google Pixel Tablet review: Outsmarting the iPad

Google thinks different with its Pixel Tablet

Slick, stylish design ; Good audio performance ; Fast, zippy performance ; Seamless dock integration ; Excellent battery life ; Editor in Chief

Lacks some typical tablet accessories ; Charging Speaker Dock could do more

The Google Pixel Tablet brings a host of firsts to its latest tablets, including the company’s proprietary Tensor G2 processor and baked-in Chromecast for a slate that transitions seamlessly from tablet to smart home.

Google Pixel Tablet Review: Not Made To Battle Galaxy Tab Or iPad, And That's A Good Thing - SlashGear

The Google Pixel Tablet is, at long last, a Google-made Android slate that does the big-screen UI justice and introduces a new hardware setup at the same time.

Top-quality IPS LCD display ; Not lacking for optimized apps at launch ; Price includes Charging Speaker Dock ; Great battery life ; Cameras surprisingly capable ; 4x speaker audio output ; 3x far-field microphone array

Price would be a bit high if not for the dock ; Display limited to 60Hz refresh rate ; Pixel Tablet Case should also be included by default
