Dell Studio 17 1749 notebook

Dell's Studio 17 1749 is a 3.5kg, 17in laptop with a Core i5-based CPU and plenty of built-in features. It's a laptop that's designed for users who wa...

Fast overall performance, two internal hard drives, Blu-ray player, good quality 17in screen

Screen and bezel are too glossy, keyboard bounces when typing

Dell's Studio 17 1749 is a 17in notebook that can be used as a business laptop, gaming PC or even as a media centre. It provides good performance, plenty of hard drive space and even its battery life is acceptable considering the size of the notebook....

Dell Studio 17 (1735)

Dell's new Studio 17 is a stylish leviathan of a notebook that's geared towards home users, with an emphasis on multimedia. It's well designed and has a good array of features, but its lime-coloured lid wasn't a pleaser. Luckily, it's only one of many...

Excellent screen, good usability, eSATA port, HDMI port, latest connectivity options, interesting design options ;

No Blu-ray drive, heavy ;

802.11n Wi-Fi is built-in, along with a Gigabit Ethernet port. Bluetooth is also available

Dell Studio 17 (model 1747)

With the average laptop, one sticky issue is the relatively small size of the display and keyboard--a necessary trade-off to keep users from suffering muscle strain while toting the notebook around. However, if you're looking for a system that you can...

Lots of screen acreage ; Excellent performance

Lacks pizzazz ; Confusing port arrangement

Dell's Studio 17 is a solid design that comes in a wide variety of configurations.

Dell Studio 17

The Studio 17 has flair, but it lacks a few key features it needs to keep up with the competition.

WUXGA display. Stylish. Good battery life in this weight class. Abundant wireless options. Backlit keyboard. Color and IMD options bring flavor to the design.

Trails the competition in expansion features. Lack of processor options for now. Graphics card is not very impressive.

Dell Studio 17 (Multitouch)

Screen sizes vary with media centers; the most common fall between 17 and 18.4 inches. The Studio 17's 17.3-inch widescreen is not only bright and sharp, it's also versatile. The resolution is upgradeable to 1,920 by 1,080, though the 1,600-by-900...

Quad-core processing. Multitouch screen is an interesting twist. Three video-out options. Excellent battery life for a media center laptop. Configurable. Dual hard drive support. Great gaming scores. Superb user experience. Over 200 designs to choose from

Very heavy for a 17-inch laptop

The Dell Studio 17 (Multitouch) media center laptop is crammed with all the latest technologies, including a multitouch screen, an Intel quad core processor, and humongous battery that will give you over 4 hours of battery life.

Dell Studio 17 (2010)

The Dell Studio 17 1747 is a hefty beast. You'll want to use it as a desktop replacement rather than a portable to carry around with you. Still, the glossy black case with subtle patterning and red edging looks pretty neat, so it won't be out of place...

Great-looking screen, responsive and fast computer chip, neat extra features and good battery life

Disappointing and occasionally unresponsive touchscreen, occasional lapses in styling

This is an effective desktop replacement with a glorious big, high-resolution screen and good sound capabilities. It works fast and efficiently. In fact, the only part of the package that doesn't impress entirely is the touchscreen. It's not bad,...

Dell Studio 17 notebook

Dell has always had clear lines between its product ranges, such as Inspiron for consumers and Latitude for business. Now, we have the Studio line, which sits awkwardly between Inspiron and XPS and even overlaps some segments. The Dell Studio 17 may...

Great spec, good price, powerful

Standard finish, awkward design

The Dell Studio 17 may fall between the budget Inspiron and expensive XPS ranges but we found it a great middle ground for those with a bigger budget looking for something cutting-edge without necessarily paying a premium.

Review Dell Studio 1749 Notebook

Gaming Studio. Dell's 17-inch studio series brings power for appl

High performance for applications; Fit for gaming; Stable, well-designed case; Large, precise touchpad; Good sound; Integrated 3G/HSPA module; Open hard drive bay; Sufficient number of ports

Spring-action keys; Low contrast and viewing angle; Noisy cooling system, even at idle; High amount of waste heat

Those put off by noise and waste heat would do well to look at the Asus N71JV. The GT325M is however, much weaker than whats on offer here. Or the Samsung NP-R780 with the GT330M. Both of them remain quieter and cooler in operation. For those that...

Plain, but quality design; Good workmanship; Good input devices; Numerous configuration alternatives; Efficient components; Great loudspeakers

Noisy load operating; Extreme heating under load; Very hot adapter; Average display; Quite heavy; Partly very expensive surcharge positions
