Sony's A3000 mirrorless/dSLR mashup delivers mixed results

 

While it provides excellent photo quality for its low price, the rest is pretty uninspiring.

With an attractive $400 (or less) price, the ; delivers excellent photo quality for the money.

It's slow, with a poor LCD and only slightly better EVF. Plus Sony doesn't include a charger, which may be an issue for some folks.

If you're just looking for better photo quality than a point-and-shoot on a really tight budget, but not better performance, the Sony Alpha A3000 meets that criterion.

Tilting LCD screen. Easy to use. Well-placed controls.

Relatively heavy for an entry-level dSLR. Kit lenses leave something to be desired.

The A300 is the pick of the bunch from Sony's entry-level dSLR Alpha line-up, but consider investing in some nicer lenses than the ones provided.
