Polk Audio SurroundBar 500CHT First Look

 

Polk Audio has put some of their best drivers into their SurroundBar CHT500. At $999, it isn't a cheap solution but it may be worth it if the audio quality (and surround experience) is there.

Vocal drone!

 

not sure how else to say it, but the built in speakers point down so you have to turn up the volume a bar allows the volume to be lower yet you can still hear it.

Much better than integrated audio. Sound "points" at you... Crank the volume to watch movies and this is where the value kicks in.

When the system is turned on, it pops. it is really jarring and not nice at all. The vocal levels drone and verberate too much. You can't watch documentary type programmes ie, hgtv, cooking.

I normally go for cheap, but...

 

doesn''t foster the desire to be a returning customer if Newegg isn't paying attention to what its sending to its customers.

none as of the writing of this review

like some others here...got the item and it looks like it was a return...missing the proper connector cables and now I have to pay to return it....doesn't seem right IMO. Not even going to try and find the right ones online...should have sent the right...

Buy something better

 

It came in on time and at least had the sound bar

There seems to be an entire box or two missing inside with the power supply, optics cable, remote, and female power cable to attach to the power supply. I can replace most of these things but if I pay for them or get this as a gift I shouldn't have to...

There seems to be an entire box or two missing inside with the power supply, optics cable, remote, and female power cable to attach to the power supply. I can replace most of these things but if I pay for them or get this as a gift I shouldn't have to...

Worst purchase ever?

 

It showed up on time

It arrived in poor condition; the box was beaten ragged that the ends were open. Also, the power cord provided is the wrong type of cord and now I have to search around for one because the exact specs aren't sold separately
