You Get What You Pay For

 

We ended up sending this lens back and spending a little more for the 50mm f/1.4 USM. We paid more, but we got more with a better aperture, build and the USM. Heavy is good; if you're serious about your photography, invest in the better lens.

It's always good to have a fixed lens with a great depth of field, but don't sacrifice quality due to cost. Sometimes it's better to wait, than suffer disappointment

The construction of this lens was very disappointing. I don't think I have ever been disappointed by a Canon product until this purchase. It felt light, flimsy and like it was going to fall apart if we used it

Great little bit of glass!

 

Highly recomend for those just starting out like me. Let's you get to experiment and learn with a VERY fast lens in low light. Get the more expensive one later. Plus you don't worry about breaking it.

Very cheap (in a good way.) Love the low light performance. Great for family photos, and getting into smaller areas where a long zoom can be cumbersome

No manual focus, but what do you expect for the price

EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens

 

Buy it, good lens to have in your lens locker!

great fast lens for under $100. Fast focus, and has good separation. Images are crisp and clean. Granted it is not an "L" lens, but for under 100 bucks I don't think that you can go wrong

don't like the plastic mount. Miniman features, but it was inexpensive too

The NIFTY-FIFTY !!!

 

For a lens under $100 you can't get a better Prime lens. Everyone knows this as the Nifty-Fifty. Even though all Canon makes is the Mk II (plastic base versus metal base, and no range dial), this thing is perfect for what it is. A cheap low light use,...

Wished it was a 58mm instead of 52mm, because I had to buy new filters for it

Excellent!

 

This has to be the best value for any lens out there. The lens is fast, takes very sharp pictures, and you don't have to worry about something happening to it as much because of the price. It's small, too, so you can take it anywhere and keep a bigger...

This little lense is exceptionally crisp and sharp! Will be using it as my primary "glass".
