The Pentax SMC FA 50mm F1.4 lens struggles to keep up with modern high-resolution cameras.

Very small. Affordable. Sharp when stopped down. Aperture ring for film use.

Soft results at f/2 and wider. Omits weather sealing. Screw-drive focus system.

Some vintage lens designs manage to deliver strong performance on modern high-resolution digital sensors. The Pentax SMC FA 50mm F1.4 isn't one of them, unfortunately. It delivers results that are positively soft focus at f/1.4 and f/2. It gets a lot...

The Pentax SMC FA 645 55-110mm f/5.6 brings the convenience of a zoom lens to medium format photography, but it's not as sharp as other lenses for the Pentax 645 system.

Light and compact. Minimal distortion. Even illumination. Focus clutch system.

Not as sharp as other medium format lenses. Narrow maximum aperture. Aperture dims viewfinder. Design isn't weather resistant.

This lens is a must to travel light and have a superb image quality. I bought this lens for portraits but after a while I learnt to use thid lens as workaround for all situations. The color rendition is very good and the boken is omogeneous.
