Gigabyte BRIX S GB-BXi5H-5200 Review

 

Gigabyte looks to usurp the Intel NUC with its own Broadwell-based Core i5 mini PC.

We love the fact that you can install a 2.5in hard disk inside the BXi5H. While mSATA SSDs don't demand a huge premium over their 2.5in counterparts, if you need a lot of storage with your mini PC system then the best combination would be an mSATA SSD...

Gigabyte Brix mit Broadwell im Test

 

Auch von Gigabyte sind Mini-PCs mit Broadwell-CPU jetzt verfügbar. Der Brix GB-BXi5H-5200 bietet viel Leistung bei weniger Verbrauch, ist aber laut.

kompakte Abmaße ; mSATA + 2,5-Zoll-Slot ; hohe Office-Leistung ; geringe Leistungsaufnahme

geringe Spieleleistung ; kein Infrarot-Anschluss ; unter Last zu laut

Der Gigabyte Brix mit Core i5-5200U macht hinsichtlich der Technik und der Ausstattungsmöglichkeiten mit zwei Massenspeicherlösungen sowie vielfältigen Anschlüssen alles richtig. Die Leistung ist durchweg hoch, die Leistungsaufnahme gering.

I picked this up to replace my gigantic full-size media PC; I expected something much smaller, and not as fast. What this is ... is pretty incredible. It's even smaller than the measurements imply. I've never before had to use my miniature tools on a...

Surprisingly quick for such a small box

 

You will need a bootable usb drive with an iso image of the OS install disk. If you have, or can borrow, a usb DVD drive you should be able to do it with that.

Small, boots fast, low power, runs win7 well

Takes some effort to load OS

Amazing mini pc

 

Very fast, very quiet system that is fantastic as a small pc in a living room or bedroom. I set it up in about 15 minutes and installed windows 8 with an external dvd drive. That didn't take very long and I was up and running in no time.

This computer is surprisingly small for what it can do. You will be amazed when you open the box and see how small it is ; I put a msata drive in it with 8gb of ram and windows 8.1. I don't really like windows 8, but I will say it is fast and works...

hate the large brick ac adapter but I guess that's the trade-off for having such a small pc
