Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen 2 review

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Tablet is a workhorse 2-in-1, but it's too expensive.

Solid productivity performance ; Excellent detachable keyboard ; Unique expansion options ; Fanless design ; Strong build quality test for MIL-SPEC 810G

Not as sleek as Surface Pro ; Can get hot when working hard ; Display doesn’t measure up for the price ; Battery life is just ok

The ThinkPad X1 Tablet is not a perfect 2-in-1, but it is a good one. It offers a robust build that’s more resistant to dings and dents than most tablets, and its detachable keyboard is superior to most. It’s held back, however, by a mediocre display...

Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Tablet

Last year, pretty much every tech company under the sun focused on releasing prosumer devices. Which is why you may be forgiven for overlooking Lenovo's newly unveiled Thinkpad X1 Tablet here at CES 2016.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet (3rd Gen) Review

With its redesigned ThinkPad X1 Tablet, Lenovo serves the Surface Pro notice. This 13-inch showpiece Windows 10 slate packs a fine pen, a top-shelf keyboard cover, and Thunderbolt 3 support.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet (2017) review: Competition pushes this competent tablet down

Lenovo's second-generation ThinkPad X1 Tablet is a solid, if slightly anemic, two-in-one PC that changes little. Unfortunately, some of its competition has caught up to it.

Generally solid construction with some smart design touches ; Fold-down kickstand makes for a comfortable lap experience ; Fingerprint reader adds Windows Hello capabilities

Mediocre performance ; At press time, on the pricey side ; Expansion modules cost extra

Though the Lenovo X1 tablet and keyboard are shipped as a single unit, Lenovo refers to the keyboard as the ThinkPad X1 Tablet Thin Keyboard Gen 2, as opposed to the first-generation keyboard that shipped with the original X1 Tablet.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 (2nd gen) review

Lenovo's second stab at the versatile ThinkPad X1 Tablet is so subtle, you'd never be able to tell from the looks of it. The latest model of the high-end two-in-one hybrid has new seventh-gen Intel processors (up to Core i7) and optional WiGig and...

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 has a sharp screen and offers flexibility through optional modular accessories. Its excellent detachable keyboard is one of the best of its kind.

It has below-average battery life. It's expensive considering its performance.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 is a unique professional tablet with modular accessories, though you can find a similar two-in-one hybrid with better battery life for less money.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet review

A bruiser of a business slate, but not the champion

Versatile modules ; Extendable battery life ; Excellent keyboard cover

Middling battery life ; Poor 'lapability'

For the ThinkPad diehards out there, you've just met the best business-bent tablet that money can buy. For everyone else, Apple or Microsoft's pro tablets can handle about the same tasks for less altogether.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet review: A Surface-like tablet with a grab bag of add-ons

This Windows slate has the standard keyboard cover, but also offers optional add-ons, from a projector to a port replicator.

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Tablet offers modular add-on options, and has a sharp display and a great keyboard.

The Intel Core m3 base model is not the fastest machine around, and adding faster parts and optional modules can get expensive. There's no slot or magnetic anchor for the optional stylus.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 tablet isn't as slick as some other Windows tablets, but its modular add-ons give it a cool built-to-order feel.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet review: Smart design makes up for performance shortcomings

Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Tablet boasts a superb kickstand, smartly designed pen attachments, a solid keyboard, and good-enough performance. It ranks highly among the convertible tablets we've tested.

Superbly designed kickstand makes lap use comfortable again ; Dual pen loop/holders actually secure the pen, unlike competition ; Traditional ThinkPad keyboard performs respectably

A little slower than the competition ; Trackpad and pen could improve ; Pricey enough that you'll want your company to pay for it

The ThinkPad X1 Tablet’s chip runs at the same 1.1GHz core clock speed as the chip in the competing HP Elite x2. Though the two chips are , the x2’s processor includes both vPro and a set of instructions focused on multithreaded performance scaling....

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 Review

The Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 combines touch, all-day battery life, and ThinkPad styling to the Windows 8 Slate tablet market. It's not a bad first effort, but rivals currently have the upper hand.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet Gen 2 (i5-7Y54) Tablet Review

Evolution, not revolution. The first generation of Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Tablet was decent, but it had its fair share of flaws. A year later, the latest version has seen little more than a chipset refresh with a few component updates. Is that enough to...

relatively easy maintenance for a tablet/convertible ; very good input devices ; fast system performance ; reasonable operating temperatures ; acceptable battery life ; greatly improved brightness and contrast

sustained performance drop still applies due to passively-cooled chipset ; low-frequency display PWM will likely bother sensitive users ; no Thunderbolt port ; poor speakers ; only 1-year warranty standard

While it’s true that this year’s ThinkPad X1 Tablet (“Gen 2”) amounts to little more than a chipset refresh, the advantages conferred by that update upon the device’s total performance in our testing today were more than minor. For instance, three of...
