Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M3, 2024) review: lightweight heavyweight

With added M3 power the latest 13in MacBook Air is an ideal portable laptop

Fanless design means silent operation ; M3 is a real powerhouse when needed ; Great battery life

That screen notch will still divide opinions ; Faster-charging 70W plug not included ; Can get rather hot under pressure

The redesign of the MacBook Air was a major revelation. Adding Apple's M3 silicon into that mix gives this laptop even more life. And cutting the effective price generation on generation makes it even more appealing for those seeking a portable 13-inch...

Apple Macbook Air 13 Inch 2024

This machine delivers the same sleek design and portability, with a mightier M3 processor. But is it worth the upgrade?

Great performance for everyday tasks. Bright display. Solid battery life. Lightweight. Supports two external displays. Comes with Wi-Fi 6E. Midnight color with anodization seal to reduce fingerprints.

Lacks ports. Base memory should be increased. Dual external display support works only when the Air is closed.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M3) review: the best laptop in the world just got better

Apple's best laptop gets an upgrade

Excellent performance ; Fan-less design ; Very good battery life ; Lower price

Base specs are a bit weak ; External monitor support feels compromised

The Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (M3) offers improved performance, a slightly tweaked design to prevent fingerprints spoiling the look, and lower price of entry compared to the previous model. This is easily the best laptop money can buy for most people,...

Apple MacBook Air (13-inch, April 2014) review: Latest MacBook Air is faster, runs longer, costs less

The 13-inch MacBook Air gets a minor CPU upgrade and $100 price cut, keeping it near the top of our recommended laptop list.

While minor, the small upgrade to the stock CPU in Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air results in improved performance. The multitouch trackpad is still the industry's best, and even better, the 13-inch Air now starts at $999, which is $100 less than the...

Newer features such as touchscreens and higher-resolution displays are still missing. The ultrabook competition is catching up, in terms of design.

If you own a MacBook Air from the past couple of years there's really no need to upgrade, but a small spec bump and minor price cut make the most-current Air even more attractive.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch, 256GB

It may be a case of "the more things change, the more they stay the same."

New Intel fourth-gen CPUs help the updated MacBook Air achieve amazing battery life. The multitouch trackpad is still the industry's best, and even better, the 13-inch MacBook Air now starts at $100 less than the previous model.

Newer features such as touch screens and higher-resolution displays are still missing. The ultrabook competition is catching up, in terms of design.

Apple keeps the latest MacBook Air updates on the inside, but greatly improved battery life and a lower starting price make up for a lack of flashy design changes.

Apple MacBook Air (13-inch review

Not too long ago, the MacBook Air practically stood alone in the computer landscape with its unique blend of design, size, and performance, an improvement on the thin laptop with low-voltage CPU. The MacBook Air, in turn, influenced the arrival of the...

The 13-inch MacBook Air has new Intel CPUs, better battery life, and an improved 720p Webcam, and finally adds USB 3.0 ports, while shaving $100 off the price from last year's models.

The design, while strong, stays largely the same: there's no Ethernet port, and the base SSD storage option of 128GB is smaller than a standard hard drive, though common for ultrabooks.

This year's MacBook Air opts for gradual improvements rather than anything revolutionary, but lowered prices continue to make it the go-to mainstream recommendation for any MacBook owner-to-be.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (Thunderbolt)

The Apple MacBook Air 13-inch (Thunderbolt) is a formidable player in the ultraportable space, thanks to a Core i5 processor, the return of the backlit keyboard, and the addition of a Thunderbolt port.

Core i5 processor and 4GB of memory provide a big performance lift. Backlit keyboard is back. Stunning design. Screen resolution is superb. Great clickpad implementation. Quick wake-from-sleep times. Thunderbolt port.

Pricey. Battery life could have been longer.

Though pricey, flash storage (or solid-state drives) is used for a number of reasons. One is its physical size: A flash storage module is about the size of a chewing gum stick, a huge factor in keeping the MacBook Air is as thin as it is. It's also...

Apple MacBook Air 13.3in (Mid-2011) review

A new refresh to the Apple MacBook Air 13in (Mid-2011) sees much faster performance added to peerless build quality and attention to detail.

The Apple MacBook Air 13in (Mid-2011) that we reviewed carries the maximum memory and storage of 4GB and 256GB. If you can work with 128GB of flash storage, the price drops to £1099, which is unbeatable even amongst shabbier-built ultraportable...
