Fast performance ; Above average camera ; Next to no bloatware ; Hi-Res Audio support great for audiophiles and Tidal users

Ugly design ; Lack of a 3.5mm headphone jack is a pain

The U11 is an excellent all-round smartphone that will meet 99% of people’s needs. I just wish it didn’t look so naff.

A unique style and squeezable sides prove HTC still knows how to innovate.

Great camera ; Alexa support ; Slick performance ; Good battery life

No 3.5mm audio jack ; Bulky body

We’re conflicted on the HTC U11 design. The liquid glass finish is gorgeous and the build quality is generally high, but fingerprint smudges quickly spoil it. The U11 also feels big, with an average display that has too much border around it.

HTC U11 is a cheaper HTC U12 Plus alternative

 

HTC's U11 might be a year old, but it's still a solid phone for buyers who want a taste of HTC's squeezable sides.

The HTC U11 gives you excellent performance, a gorgeous design, water resistance and a big-screen for much less than the HTC U12 Plus.

The HTC U11’s squeezable sides feel more gimmicky than novel, as does HTC's virtual assistant. The stunning glass rear is prone to smudging, and the battery felt very thirsty.

For a stylish design and solid performance, the HTC U11 is a discount over the U12 Plus, though power users will be drawn to the U12 Plus' more robust squeezing features.

It’s a performance monster, it’s gorgeous front and back, it’s water-resistant, it’s big-screen. The HTC U11 ticks the boxes that matter.

The HTC U11’s squeezable sides feel more gimmicky than novel, as does HTC's virtual assistant. The stunning glass rear is prone to smudging, and the battery felt very thirsty.

You won’t be picking this one up for squeezable sides. You’ll be picking up the HTC U11 for the performance and the design.
