The 36-bit Umax Astra 4000U ($180 street) and 48-bit Astra 4400 ($100) are both 1,200-dpi scanners, but they are very different in terms of features.

Umax Astra 4000U

 

Dit is een van de duurdere maar ook een van de betere scanners uit de test.

De Umax Astra 4000U haalt een iets lagere prestatiescore omdat hij wat trager is. Hij is evenwel iets goedkoper en wint het daardoor qua prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding met een neuslengte van de Microtek ScanMaker X12USL.

The body of this scanner has rather impressive dimensions. A little strangely on rather traditional body looks the bright orange plank of the holder of cover; under which right edge is located the transport clamper. The cover is lifted up and is fixed...

Great quality of scanning, reasonable price, tech support, MAC and PC

Umax - don't do it

 

I am an HP scanner user and still have my old 4p in the closet, which I am going to dig out and begin to use again.

14" bed, which is hard to find these days

At the original $400 price, I would have turned away from this one. Now, and until the end of 2/01 it can be yours for less than $200 and a $20 rebate besides.
