Dell XPS 8300 review: An Intel Core i7-based PC that's useful for almost any task

Fast performance ; 2TB hard drive

USB 3.0 is optional ; Wi-Fi isn't included as standard

The Dell XPS 8300 offers plenty of performance for users who want to perform multimedia tasks. It's also perfect for heavy multitasking, can be used for a little gaming, and it has a 2TB hard drive. We just wish it came with USB 3.0 and Wi-Fi as standard.

Not everyone wants their PC to look like a looming black obelisk. Although Dell's Studio XPS 8300 won't be to everyone's taste, it's compact, unassuming and reasonably quiet. It's only when we opened it up that we realised how much has been sacrificed...

This Sandy Bridge system has refreshingly different styling and some interesting features, but it's out-performed by almost every other comparable system on the market.
