HTC Snap (Sprint)

The HTC Snap for Sprint offers robust e-mail support, including HTC's Inner Circle feature for prioritizing messages. The Windows Mobile smartphone also has EV-DO Rev. A support, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 2-megapixel camera.

Sprint's version lacks Wi-Fi and dual-mode functionality. The smartphone has a plasticky feel, and the QWERTY keyboard is cramped.

The HTC Snap for Sprint offers snappy performance and good messaging features, but the smartphone's plastic build and lack of Wi-Fi don't justify the price.

The Snap will appeal to a specific segment of business-minded road warriors who need good messaging but don't want to pay for extras like media or social networking.

Solid messenger, including Inner Circle. Good battery life. Full connectivity options.

Cramped QWERTY. Jogball lacks accurate, smooth movement. Web browsing could be better.

Road warriors looking for a cheap messaging-focused smartphone should consider the Snap. Anyone who values media, social networking or regular web browsing should look elsewhere.

HTC Snap (Alltel)

The HTC Snap offers world roaming capabilities and includes HTC's Inner Circle feature for e-mail prioritization. The sleek smartphone also features a full QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Call quality is excellent.

The Snap doesn't support international 3G bands. Speakerphone quality wasn't the best.

For Alltel customers looking for a messaging-centric smartphone, the HTC Snap offers a nice, budget-friendly alternative to the carrier's BlackBerry offerings.
